Description
Paraffin wax has long been valued for its versatile nature and many DIY uses around the home. Rated non-toxic and non-reactive, pure paraffin wax is ideal for candle making as it provides a clean, consistent burn. You simply heat the wax and pour it into your candle mould of your choice to create beautiful pillar candles, votive candles, or other container candles. You can easily achieve the precise bold or muted colours you desire because most candle dyes were specifically formulated for use with paraffin. The same is true of candle fragrance oils, which is why paraffin-scented candles often offer a stronger fragrance throw than soy candles or other candle wax materials. Paraffin wax is also colourless and water-resistant which makes it great for use as a furniture wax or finishing wax for wood projects. The protective paraffin layer acts as a wood sealer, keeping moisture out and helping to prevent wood rot or decay. In addition to its wood preservative benefits, paraffin wax imparts a gentle sheen on the wood to enhance its natural grain and create a more lustrous finish. Using paraffin wax for canning jams and jellies is also a time-honoured tradition and is still popular throughout much of America and Europe.
